Alwins Field are statutory allotments run by Leighton-Linslade Town Council.

There are 6 full plots and 39 half plots and there is a waiting list. The size of a full plot is 8 sq poles which is 10 Metres by 20 Metres. Mains water is supplied via three watertroughs. The extension, which opened in 2012, added another 30 half plots. They are bounded to the north by Linslade Wood.

The allotments are part of a piece of land that includes the play area and open space. Leighton Linslade Urban District Council acquired the land in 1974 via a land swap with the developer, H C Leach Ltd, of the Milebush estate. The land swapped was allotments at Hawthorn Close for a larger area on the Milebush Estate for use as recreational open space and allotments. Interestingly the council minutes refer to “leisure gardens” which perhaps reflects the influence of the 1969 Thorpe Report.

The freehold later transferred to South Bedfordshire District Council when that was created in 1974. The land was transferred to Leighton-Linslade Town Council on 1 April 1978.

There is a restrictive covenant on the land which states the allotments cannot exceed 1.4 acres (0.57 Hectares).
